Keynote Speaker

Lisa A. Roberts

This year, the Secretariat is delighted to announce Ms. Lisa A. Roberts as the Keynote Speaker for the SMH-MUN V Opening Ceremony.

Ms. Roberts is the General Counsel of the North American Development Bank.  She is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, as well as the Harvard Law School. Throughout her career, she has focused on international organization law, including stints at the International Labor Organization as a human rights fellow, as well as at the U.S. Treasury Department under President George H. W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.  While at the Treasury, she was Attorney-Advisor to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for International Affairs, working on everything from debt-for-nature swaps, International Monetary Fund and World Bank affairs, the $17 billion loan to Mexico during the 1994-1995 peso crisis, and the creation of the North American Development Bank during the NAFTA negotiations.  She is currently General Counsel of the North American Development Bank, which is 50% owned by the US, and 50% owned by Mexico and helps finance environmental infrastructure projects in the U.S.-Mexico border region.

As a bold leader of the NADBank, Ms. Roberts tackles problems every day that epitomize the theme of the MUN conference, constantly seeking to strike the balance between economic interest and ethical responsibility.  An engaging speaker with a strong connection to the topic at hand, Ms. Roberts is a perfect choice for SMH-MUN V.
