Lisa Koenig is a multiple Emmy-award winning strategic and executive communications expert with extensive experience in Fortune 500 companies and national news organizations. She excels in leading complex communications initiatives and creating compelling content for CEOs, Boards of Directors, and internal and external audiences. Currently, Ms. Koenig is the North American Director of Communications for Alimentation Couche-Tard. Her most recent professional experience includes serving as the Director of Corporate Communications of CST Brands and USAA’s Senior Communications Consultant. Ms. Koenig is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and was in the top 10 of her class. She also has a Master of Philosophy in Russian History and Politics from the University of Oxford.
Before working in corporate communication, Ms. Koenig had an impressive career for more than twenty years with ABC News including as the senior producer of This Week with George Stephanopoulos and Nightline with Ted Koppel. She was also an international news producer based in London and Moscow. Ms. Koenig has produced several documentaries and countless nightly-news shows, as well as long form interviews with U.S. presidents and foreign leaders. During her tenure, she covered significant world and domestic events from the release of Nelson Mandela to the collapse of the Soviet empire, the impeachment of President Clinton, 9-11, and the buildup to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to name a few.
Ms. Koenig has been well recognized for her journalistic accomplishments including being awarded five Emmys and more than a dozen National TV News Awards. Some of these awards include the two Walter Cronkite Awards for Excellence in TV political journalism, two Joan Barone Awards in outstanding political reporting, the David Bloom Award for investigative international reporting, the Carnegie Mellon Cybersecurity Journalism Award, and the Overseas Press Club Award for coverage of the Russian resistance, among others.
Given her experience in multiple countries, disciplines, and languages, Ms. Koenig is qualified to speak on the topic of movement and its importance in advancing our society by relating her experiences as a traveling journalist and producer all over the world.
